316L Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content by mass. It has a natural resistance to magnetic interference, stains and corrosion, which is greatly enhanced through PVD coating. Of the 150 available versions of stainless steel, a very specific type, 316L (the “L” stands for Low Carbon) was chosen for its receptiveness to extremely tight machining tolerances.
Capable of withstanding pressure equivalent to depths of 10 atmospheres or 100 meters, the watch is water resistant and suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Each watch is factory pressure tested and evaluated to insure the highest standards of water resistance.
Physical Vapor Deposition
PVD is an industrial process originally developed by NASA that is used to precisely transfer a vaporized source material in very thin coatings onto a part within a vacuum chamber. The process is most commonly used for a variety of machine elements with strict performance requirements such as surgical tools and drill bits. PVD coatings can be harder and more corrosion-resistant than coatings applied by an electroplating process.
Japanese SEIKO VD53
Equipped with a Quartz crystal oscillator that creates a precise frequency for high-precision timekeeping. The chronograph measures to an accuracy of a 1/10th of a second with a sixty-minute maximum duration and an approximate 2-year battery life. Hack seconds and manual winding allow for synchronizing capabilities.
Fitted with a SR920SW battery. Specific tools are required when removing the case back, we recommend your battery be replaced by a watch repair shop.
